Born of God

God has described the concept of spiritual and physical marriage in the book of Genesis. This basic idea has never changed.

Genesis 2:21-25 KJV (21) And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; (22) And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. (23) And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. (24) Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (25) And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Jesus went to the cross to receive His new wife. The Apostle Paul spoke of this in Romans 6:6 and Galatians 2:20.

Romans 6:6 KJV (6) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Galatians 2:20 KJV (20) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Everyone’s spirit man, the source of their sinfulness, was placed in Jesus and crucified with Him. At that time, God took part of Christ’s spirit and put it into humanity. Immediately, their spirits, Christ and His wife, were immediately raised into heavenly places, and she sat beside Christ as His wife. It was at the cross that our new birth took place. When we return to the cross, it is to accept the great work that God has done. Our spirit/His spirit cannot sin.

1 John 3:9 KJV (9) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

As the body of Christ hung on the cross, His side was pierced by the soldier’s sword, allowing blood and water to flow from His side. This piercing established the conditions for our physical marriage. We are married by blood covenant (Communion) and the water of the Word of God (confession).

Being born of God, we are His children. Our profession of this great truth establishes this identity as His children to become citizens of His kingdom and legal recipients of all of the benefits of kingdom living. Acceptance and profession of any other identity only starts another ungodly religion and not God’s legal authority of a family government.

John 1:12 KJV (12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

The power to accept, profess, and become was the great gift that God gave us through Jesus. The work He accomplished on the cross also qualifies us to believe, receive, and walk into every relationship He offers. I know of those: Sons of God, Ekklesia or Saints of God, Ambassadors of God, Kings and Priests unto God, Bride of Christ, and wife of Christ. This power to accept and receive also provides us with all things needed for life and godliness, including but not limited to shelter, food, clothing, free medical and mental care, and physical and spiritual protection.
