God’s Purpose

I believe many today are uncertain about God’s purpose in their lives and confuse God’s purpose and work as the same thing. God’s work is never our life’s purpose. It is His relationship and partnership with Him in establishing, maintaining, and growing His kingdom within us that is His ultimate goal. Jesus brought us a kingdom, telling us it was to be established within us, and God desired this relationship for His people. He wants a kingdom comprised of His children. It is an unchanging yet ever-growing family relationship. Building His kingdom within you is His purpose.

The purpose of all other activities in our lives, marriage, family, friends, neighbors, jobs, ministry, etc., is to fulfill God’s commitment to building the Kingdom of God and its expression of the Kingdom of Heaven within us. The Kingdom of God is like a great river in our life; all activities are tributaries flowing into and making up this river, each having its influence and changing us into His image.
