During His lifetime, Jesus developed a powerful love connection with His Father. Twice God spoke aloud, declaring His love for His Son. Finally, the Apostle Paul prayed that we would come to know the vastness of God's love for His people (Ephesians 3:14-21).
Jesus talked about this love connection with the Father in John 15:1-17. Our continuous supply of love and the life of God comes to us through Jesus. This life flow increases according to our increasing intimacy with Jesus. The Lord tells us in Romans 8:38-39 that nothing can separate us from this love of God. Except for us, of course, because we still have free will.
When we fellowship with God and allow this flow to increase, it will become rivers of living water flowing from us.
It seems to be a difficult concept for us to grasp, but love is not something God does, it is who He is, and He never changes nor alters who He is for any reason whatsoever. He is steadfast forever. God created humanity because He loves us. We are the reason for the creation of this universe.
God did not need more workers. He wanted a larger family. He has given us assignments to complete during our lifetime, facilitating and contributing to our growth and development as human beings. The finished work is not the objective. His objective is the mature person who can walk as His son or daughter, functioning in the various levels of ministry He has given us.
He did not die to create great ministers; His objective has always been the joy of watching us grow into loving, mature men and women of God living as part of His kingdom. The ministry's objective is to give us challenges and to bring us to perfection by giving us purpose and direction in our lives. As human beings, we need purpose, direction, and conquests in our lives. It is the joy of His life to see us successful and prosperous in every area of our lives, not because He needed the work accomplished, but because we are His children. He loves us and is delighted when we are successful.
The work you do is for your self-satisfaction and benefit, and the person you become as a result of the work is for God's benefit. The work you do to build the kingdom is to believe, receive, and walk in the finished work of Jesus and help others to do the same.
