Jesus spoke of the day when He would return to the Father. I did not know until He showed me how things would change when He arrived in heaven.
1 Corinthians 15:24 KJV (24) Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1 Corinthians 15:28 KJV (28) And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
One of the changes was that He would no longer be an active king. Because His Father is the king of heaven, Jesus cannot hold that title but would turn over the kingdom to His Father and take His position as Prince and High Priest.
Revelation 1:5 KJV (5) And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
We are to make our profession in prayer to the Father, our king; Jesus said He would answer the prayer. That is because He is our high priest.
John 16:23 KJV (23) And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Hebrews 3:1 KJV Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
Jesus further instructed us to continue regularly repeating our petitions, allowing Him to work on our behalf constantly.
Hebrews 4:14 KJV (14) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
As an example, I know that I am an ambassador of Christ. But knowing that does not establish it as my identity. Acceptance brings knowledge, but repetition brings identity. So therefore, I frequently speak aloud of my faith that I am an ambassador, allowing Jesus to continue working in my life until He has established that as my identity.
