We must first understand what happened at Pentecost to repeat it today. It was not a religious event. It was the manifestation of God’s Kingdom government on earth due to His promises. His Kingdom is still available today for those who accept it as God gave it to us, as a government. When reduced to a religious experience, it no longer has the power of God within it and will not transform the world. A sure sign we are treating it as a religious experience is to call it a revival. It is not a revival; it is a government. The purpose of the government is to establish God’s rule on the earth in the hearts of believers through the transformation process called salvation.
On the first day of the week after His resurrection, Jesus appeared first to Mary, then later in the same day in the evening to ten of His disciples (John 20:1, 16 & 17)
John 20:22 KJV
(22) And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
The governor, the Holy Spirit, had been returned to God’s colony, the planet Earth, and established in the hearts of His disciples, except Thomas, who was not present.
Immediately before Jesus left, He assembled with His disciples one last time. He had been teaching about the Kingdom of God for forty days, but now He tells them what will soon transpire in Jerusalem.
Acts 1:4-5 KJV
(4) And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.(5) For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Jesus instructed the disciples to wait for the arrival of the Father’s promise.
Mark 9:1 KJV
(1) And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the Kingdom of God come with power.
Jesus said the evidence of the Kingdom of God is power.
Acts 1:8 KJV
(8) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Pentecost fulfilled the promise of God given by Jesus that the Kingdom of God comes with power.
Acts 2:1-4 KJV
(1) And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
(2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
(3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
(4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
God evidenced the Kingdom of God by the disciples being baptized in fire and speaking the language of heaven as imparted by the Holy Spirit. This event was the fulfillment of the prophecy by John the Baptizer and the answer to the prayer Jesus gave us to use.
Matthew 3:11 KJV
(11) I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Matthew 6:9-10 KJV
(9) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
(10) Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Heaven had arrived!!!
