Father, there is probably nothing more heartbreaking than a parent having a son or daughter refusing to take the family name and refusing to identify as a family member. That describes what we have done to you. We have preferred and adopted a name, Christian, that the world gave us and the destiny that name carries. Lord, we repent of having denied you and our relationship with you before the whole world, rejecting our family position as sons and daughters and rejecting before the world the destinies that position provides. From this point forward, I proclaim and identify as a child of God and a natural citizen of the Kingdom of God. We ask you, Lord, to not deny us before the Father because of our abusive actions.
Refusing to be identified as a Christian means I have refused to let the world name me. Instead, with much joy, I announce, “I belong to Father God and will carry only the family name, identity, and destiny He has provided for me.”
