The Growth of Jesus

Jesus knew He was a child of God and confessed it publicly.

Luke 2:49 KJV (49) And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

Matthew 10:32 KJV (32) Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

The first verse, Jesus identifies Himself as a child of God and a citizen in God's Kingdom. In the second verse, He also tells us the work He would do as a priest.

Matthew 3:16-17 KJV (16) And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: (17) And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Displaying His obedience to the Father, Jesus came to be baptized by John. As He came up from the water and received the Holy Spirit. Father God then spoke publicly and loudly from Heaven, proclaiming Him as His Son.

The Spirit immediately drove Him into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After defeating Satan and establishing rule over His flesh, He left the desert in the power of the Spirit, showing He now carried the Kingdom of God within Him and was ready to display the Kingdom of Heaven to the world.

1 Corinthians 4:20 KJV (20) For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

The source of the power of God is the Kingdom of God, and that is how I knew He was a carrier of the kingdom and ready to embark on the mission God had given Him of entering into the training needed to develop into a king and priest unto God and later High Priest. God had prepared Jesus to preach, demonstrate kingdom power, and deliver the kingdom to mankind, which He completed on Pentecost.

Making a public proclamation agreeing with God that we are a child of God and allowing God to establish us as citizens in His kingdom and bring us into maturity, proclaiming to us as His Sons is the pathway Jesus followed. We should do likewise.
