Thy Word is Truth

Psalms 138:2 KJV

(2) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

To resemble God in any significant way, we must also value our word above our name. Jesus is named the Word of God because He mastered this precept during His lifetime.

Revelation 19:13 KJV

(13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Jesus warned us of the practice of not watching our own words.

Matthew 12:36 KJV

(36) But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

I believe idle words here refer to those promises, commitments, and words we speak and make no attempt to fulfill. They fall to the wayside to lay idle. The truth becomes your lie.
