We are His Body

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 KJV (12) For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. (13) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (14) For the body is not one member, but many.
As the offspring of God and active citizens in the Kingdom of God, we are also members of His ekklesia or church. The ekklesia is His body and united as one with Him. Most of us have this knowledge, but few have established their identity as one with Christ.
Ephesians 5:29 KJV (29) For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
2 Timothy 2:12-13 KJV (12) If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: (13) If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
The Lord has promised to take care of us and tells us that if we identify ourselves as His body, He will cherish and nourish us. We may not have yet accepted this truth that we are one with Him, but He has.
Hebrews 3:1 KJV (1) Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
Therefore, practice, practice, practice our profession until we establish it as our identity and reality. As we accept this truth and identity, Jesus will enthusiastically make provision for His own body.
The Lord has told us in Paul’s letter to the Ephesian church that the whole family of God is named after His son Jesus.
Ephesians 3:14-15 KJV (14) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (15) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
For many years I had no idea what God meant by this statement. In every person throughout history, their body carries the same name as their head. That means we have the same name as our head, Jesus.
We must continue making our profession until we identify ourselves entirely as Him. Then, we will be pretty close when we do the greater works He promised, e.g., discipling people into the Kingdom of God, stopping storms, raising the dead, and walking on water.
